Personal and spiritual integrity
Exalt Jesus Christ for his glory, not for oneself or your church.
Be a servant-leader by following Jesus in love, humility, and uprightness.
Exhibit spiritual maturity through selfless, honest, and peace-loving behavior.
Refrain from sinful and imprudent sexual behavior and improper involvement.
Business practices and legal accountability
Obey government laws unless they require disobedience to the law of God.
Embrace and promote business practices in accord with Scripture and civil law.
If aware of serious misconduct within my church, inform official authorities as required by church policy and civil law, plus diligently protect victims and deal with the perpetrator(s) while maintaining suitable confidentiality.
Ensure that church funds are used for approved donor-intended ministry purposes.
Employ and promote accepted accounting practices and regular financial reviews by an expert third party.
Create and implement human resource management policies and practices that comply with the law, fit your church, and are understood by your employees.
Prevent conflicts of interest by church employees and persons in governing roles.
Relational integrity
Be honest, loving, and above reproach in all written and interpersonal interaction.
Obey biblical principles and legal obligations when interacting with both minors and adults, especially avoiding offensive or abusive manners or behavior.
Deal with coworkers and church members impartially, respectfully, and cooperatively as partners in God’s kingdom and mission.
Address and manage conflict in a mature spiritual manner consistent with the biblical command to be peacemakers.
Behave professionally and in a Christ-like way when interacting with those outside your church.
Missional endeavor
Protect the integrity and promote a healthy view of the church by the public.
Encourage and practice Christian citizenship without engaging in partisan politics or political activities that are divisive, unethical, unbiblical, or unwise.
Build God’s kingdom in cooperation, not competition, with other local ministries.
Organizational leadership and stewardship
Know and follow the documents governing the operations of our church.
Respect and uphold the processes and decisions of your church’s governing body.
Ensure clarity in authority structures, position descriptions, decision-making procedures, and grievance policies.
Display accountability at the upper and all organizational levels.
Model the trustworthiness of God in leadership to encourage and develop trustworthiness in others. Use authority and influence prudently and humbly.
Guard confidential information carefully and disclose it discreetly with permission.
Be honest and prudent in allocating and using ministry resources.
Report private gifts to your governing body. Refuse personal gifts that could compromise ministry integrity.
Instill and uphold a culture that supports and displays this ethical code of conduct.
